I had the great pleasure to moderate the Sustainability Transformation Conference 2020 organized by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the German Environment Agency (UBA).
I discussed on stage with Svenja Schulze, German Federal Minister for the Environment, and Dirk Messner, President of the German Environment Agency, about the transformation of the economy and society to shape a sustainable future.
Throughout various panels, prominent participants including Jean-Eric Paquet (Director-General at the European Commission), Florian Weig (Senior Vice President Strategy at BMW Group), Luisa Neubauer (Fridays for Future) aimed to disseminate whether the COVID-19 pandemic has served as a catalyst of change regarding socio-ecological transformation.
The panelists tackled various topics in their discussions ranging from fair transformation processes towards sustainability in societies, the economic implications of such, up to the impact of this type of international conferences in promoting the socio-ecological transition successfully.
